The short version
Things does little and does it very well. Areas, projects, tasks, a view for today and one for upcoming. The app is fast, calm and thought through to the last detail. You buy it once per device; there is no subscription.
Aevo puts a different question at the centre. Things shows you what you set out to do today. Aevo works out whether it fits: meetings from the calendar against the estimates of your tasks. And it ranks by itself, by a score you can read.

What Things does better
- Design and speed. Native apps on every Apple device that feel like part of the system.
- On the go. iPhone, iPad and watch are full citizens. Aevo only has a companion app in the works there.
- No subscription. Pay once, use for years. Aevo offers that as a lifetime licence; the app itself is a service.
What Aevo does differently
A day has a size. Aevo takes your meetings off your working hours and shows which tasks fit into the rest. More in realistic day planning.
You do not sort. Deadline, date, priority, postponements and time untouched make up a score. What stands first is next, and a click shows why.
Postponing stays visible. In Things you move a task without consequence. In Aevo every postponement counts.
Runs wherever a browser runs. On the Windows machine at the office too, with the company's Outlook calendar.
Which one suits you
Things suits you if you use only Apple devices, set your own order, and want a calm list.
Aevo suits you if your day is made of meetings and you want to know what is realistic in between, or if you do not work on a Mac alone. See the pricing or start for free.
