Aevo compared with Notion

Notion can do almost anything once you have taught it how. Aevo does less and is finished on day one. The difference is not features, it is who does the building.

The short version

Notion is a construction kit. Databases, views, relations, formulas, templates. Put the hours in and you end up with a system shaped exactly like your work. Skip the hours and three weeks later you have four half-built pages and a task list you are keeping on paper again.

Aevo is not a kit. There is one board, four item types and one calculation that decides how a tile looks. There is very little to configure, and that is the whole idea.

What Notion does better

If you enjoy the building and you keep it up, Notion is more powerful than Aevo will ever be.

What Aevo does differently

It is finished on day one. No schema, no views, no formulas. Create a tile, set a date, get on with it.

Urgency decides the view, not you. In Notion the sort order is whatever you configured. In Aevo the due date, the effort, the priority and the number of times you have postponed something decide how large and how coloured a tile is. You never have to remember to sort correctly.

Postponed work gets louder. The attention score rises with every push: tasks you keep postponing. Move a date in a Notion database and all that changes is a date field.

A day has a size. Aevo reads your appointments and says what still fits into today. In Notion you would have to build that arithmetic yourself.

No AI. Notion AI is a selling point; leaving it out is Aevo's. Tasks and notes hold things no model needs to read: task management without AI.

Fewer decisions. Four item types, one board, one calculation. Anyone who has spent two evenings on Notion templates instead of working knows why that counts as a feature.

If you want to move

  1. Export the task database from Notion as CSV and the pages as Markdown.
  2. In Aevo, create the projects that are genuinely still running.
  3. Enter the open tasks, each with a date you intend to work on it.
  4. Paste the longer texts in as notes and attach them to the right project.

Wiki pages do not come along. If your Notion is mostly documentation, keep it for that and use Aevo for the work. The two do not rule each other out.

Which one suits you

Notion suits you if you want to build a system, work with other people, or store a lot of knowledge.

Aevo suits you if you would rather work than build, if tasks and notes belong together, if you want to know what is realistically left in today, and if no model should read your content. See the pricing or start for free.

Frequently asked questions

Can Aevo work as a wiki?

No. There are formatted notes, but no nested pages and no references between documents. For documentation, Notion is the better tool.

Can I import my Notion database?

Not automatically. Notion exports CSV and Markdown; Aevo has no importer for either.

Is Aevo as customisable as Notion?

No, deliberately. Colours, fonts and the view can be adjusted; the structure cannot.

Does Aevo have anything like Notion AI?

No, and none is planned. Leaving it out is the point of the product.

What does Aevo cost?

The free plan is permanent, not a trial period. Pro is 5.00 euro a month or 50.00 euro a year, VAT included.
