Aevo compared with TickTick

TickTick packs tasks, calendar, habits and a Pomodoro timer into one app and is very cheap at it. Aevo does less and bets on one question: what really still fits into today?

The short version

TickTick is one of the most complete task apps there is. Lists, a calendar view, habits, timers, an Eisenhower matrix, apps for every platform, at a price below almost everyone else. If you want a Swiss army knife, it is hard to find a better one.

Aevo is not a Swiss army knife. Tasks sit as tiles on a board, ranked by a score you can read. Aevo reads your calendar, works out how much of today is free, and shows which tasks fit.

What TickTick does better

What Aevo does differently

A day has a size. TickTick shows tasks and meetings next to each other. Aevo sets one against the other and tells you whether today's intentions add up.

The order explains itself. You do not sort. Deadline, date, priority, postponements and time untouched make up a score, and a click shows each part.

Postponing has consequences. From the third postponement on, the tile shows it. In a list the task simply carries a new date. More in tasks you keep postponing.

If you want to move

TickTick generates a backup as a CSV file under account settings. Aevo reads it: settings, account, import data. Lists become projects, subtasks stay under their task, and deadlines, priorities and descriptions come along. Habits and reminders stay in TickTick.

Which one suits you

TickTick suits you if you want many features in one app, work on Android, or price decides.

Aevo suits you if your calendar is full and you want to know what is realistic in between. See the pricing or start for free.

Frequently asked questions

Does Aevo have an Eisenhower matrix?

No. Aevo calculates a score from deadline, date and priority and ranks by it. Why that answers the same question differently is in Eisenhower matrix: an alternative.

Is there Aevo for Android?

No. Aevo runs in the browser and as an app for macOS. A companion app for iOS is in the works.

Can I import my TickTick tasks?

Yes, through TickTick's CSV backup. Aevo reads tasks with their subtasks, lists, deadlines and priorities. On the free plan at most five lists become projects.

Where is my data held?

In the EU. The details are in the privacy notice.
