The short version
Todoist has spent more than fifteen years getting one thing right: writing a task down before the thought is gone. Its input line reads a date, a project and a priority out of a single sentence, and it runs on anything with a screen. If your work is a long run of small, clearly named items, that is hard to beat.
Aevo starts somewhere else. A task there rarely stands alone. There are notes attached to it, a project above it, a meeting next to it. Instead of a list you get a surface where those things sit together and point at each other.

What Todoist does better
A comparison is worth nothing if it only flatters one side. Todoist is ahead in three places:
- Capture speed. Natural-language quick add is mature. In Aevo you create a tile and fill in fields.
- Working with other people. Shared projects, assigned tasks, comments. Aevo has none of that and is not going to.
- Reach. Years of integrations, extensions and templates. Aevo connects to calendars and mailboxes, and that is the list.
If your day rests on any of those three, stay where you are. Switching would cost you something you use daily.
What Aevo does differently
Postponed work does not go quiet. Every task carries an attention score that climbs each time you push it to tomorrow. The tile grows and takes on colour. In a list the same task simply drifts downwards and is invisible after a month. The long version is in tasks you keep postponing.
Waiting is not the same as avoiding. A task blocked on someone else's reply is not procrastination. Aevo separates the two and does not count waiting time against you.
Notes live next to the work. A note is its own formatted item that you attach to a task or a project. No second app, no link that eventually points nowhere. More on that in tasks and notes in one place.
Nothing reads over your shoulder. Tasks and notes hold client names, medical appointments and half-finished thoughts. Aevo has no assistant, sends nothing to an AI service and trains on nothing. That is a decision, not a gap: task management without AI.
A day has a size. Aevo reads your calendar, works out how much time is actually left today, and shows which tasks still fit. A list of fourteen items due today tells you nothing of the sort.
If you want to move
- Export from Todoist. There is a CSV export per project and a full backup in your account settings.
- In Aevo, create only the projects you are really still running. In practice that is about half of them.
- Enter the open tasks and give each one a date you intend to work on it. That date drives the attention score, not the due date.
- Connect your calendar so the day planning has real numbers to work with.
There is no automatic importer. For the twenty to fifty tasks most people actually have open, typing them in takes half an hour and clears out the dead ones on the way.
Which one suits you
Todoist suits you if you capture a lot of small items quickly, work with other people, or depend on a wide ecosystem.
